The City of Numbers was once where humanity thrived; it was a place of learning and prosperity, protected from the monsters that roam the lands beyond…until it wasn’t. A great calamity struck. Darkness spread. Humanity’s only hope was to seek sanctuary – in the Belfry. Since that day, Aces have been humanity’s deathless defenders. Without them, there’d be no hope at all.
Your journey as an Ace is just beginning … again.
Welcome (Back), Ace…
As an Ace, you are humanity’s resurrected protector, drawn from the mystical Ebb to defend the Belfry, humanity’s last refuge. You navigate Eld, a unique and vibrant, yet dangerous, world. Once, humanity thrived in the technologically advanced City of Numbers, using Mystech, a blend of engineering and spirit energy. But a spirit energy surge birthed Duskers, corrupted spirits. Now, survivors depend on you to reclaim their world.
The heart of Eld is the towering Belfry—a last refuge, beacon of hope, and the place you’ll soon call home. This mighty spire stands as humanity’s unwavering bastion amidst an ever-encroaching darkness. From here, your quest begins.
Choose Your Class
In Towerborne, Aces adopt powerful combat roles called Classes, each with a unique play style. Whether you prefer brute force, speed, or defense, each class offers a distinct solo and co-op experience to defend the Belfry and fight the darkness.
- Sentinel: Balances offense and defense with a sword and shield, perfect for players who like protecting allies. Excels in timing, control, and counterattacks, rewarding precision and resilience.
- Rockbreaker: Uses massive Gauntlets for rapid melee and area attacks. Specializes in Focus Skills and explosive finishers, ideal for aggressive close-combat situations.
- Pyroclast: Wields a Warclub with flame abilities, controlling the battlefield with fiery explosions. Great for crowd control and heavy-hitting elemental chaos.
- Shadowstriker: Employs Dual Daggers for rapid combos and agility with swift aerial combat focusing on surprise attacks and mobility, perfect for high-risk, high-reward playstyles.
Umbra Allies
Umbra, loyal spirit allies who join you in battle, each come equipped with unique abilities enhance and alter your combat style. Whether offensive, defensive, or supportive, these companions are key to making the most of your battles.
Beasts Beyond the Belfry
Brace yourself for relentless Gobos – chaotic scavengers who thrive in chaos. Or, face the fierce Beastkin, agile humanoids with primal animal traits. Then there are the unsettling Duskers, corrupted spirits trapped between the physical and mystical worlds…armored echoes born from the destruction of the City of Numbers. Fom lurking Pangors strewn about the Grasslands and explosive Mushbooms infesting the Fungal Forest – to stealthy Snow Howlers perched in the Mountains and noxious Smears lurking among the storm-ravaged Ruins – each Biome is home to a bespoke batch of baddies.
Cultivating Curios
Curios are Towerborne’s unique version of a battle pass—simple, tiered reward tracks filled with cosmetic items and resources you earn just by playing the game. To progress through Curios, you collect Writs from gameplay activities (mainly from the Requests Board) and spend these Writs to unlock each tier’s rewards. Once you’ve claimed enough rewards from one tier, the next automatically unlocks. Best of all, Curios never expire, so you can complete them entirely at your own pace.
Curios come in two forms → Free Curios are available to all players and unlocked simply through gameplay; Premium Curios require a Curio Core to activate, offering more exclusive and distinctive cosmetic rewards. Curio Cores can primarily be purchased with Belfry Bucks—Towerborne’s premium currency—in the in-game Store, although you might occasionally earn them through special events or grants. Once you have a Curio Core, you can activate a Premium Curio to start earning its unique cosmetic rewards.
Here’s how you get started:
- Complete your first Danger License Trial to unlock the Requests Board.
- Finish the “My First Job” quest to begin earning Writs.
- Complete the “Curioser and Curioser” quest to receive your first Curio Core.
- Activate your Curio and start claiming rewards.
All cosmetics unlocked via Curios can be equipped through your Loadout menu. And no cosmetics ever provide gameplay advantages.
Navigating the World Map
The Wilds – the untamed expanse beyond the Belfry walls where monsters roam and humans struggle to survive – encompass unique Biomes and represent both promise and peril for Aces brave enough to explore them. The serene yet deceptive Grasslands with ambushing Gobos and Pangors beneath emerald fields; the eerie Fungi Forest, transformed into fungal mazes haunted by explosive Mushbooms and toxic Fungobos; the rugged Mountains, offering breathtaking vistas alongside dangerous predators like Snow Howlers and Goboulders; and the Ruins, once the prosperous City of Numbers, now a storm-ravaged landscape teeming with Duskers and Smears. As you continue to explore, expect more discoveries as the world of Towerborne expands. The world of Towerborne unfolds gradually, tile by tile across a Hex based map system. Every hex you uncover brings new surprises: some brim with loot, others teem with challenging adversaries, and some hide secrets. Completing missions broadens your safe area, clears more fog, and keeps the adventure going.
Fight. Loot. Repeat.
Combat in Towerborne is fast and intuitive, easy to pick up – yet challenging to master. Battles are a dynamic mix of combos and abilities; dial up the coordinated chaos by adventuring with a squad. Whether you prefer solo challenges or teaming up with friends, For up to four fellow Aces, Towerborne offers cross play, cross progression, online co-op, and couch co-op! (couch co-op is only available on console).
Danger Levels allow you to tailor the game’s difficulty on-the-fly, ensuring your adventure always matches your playstyle. Ranging from Danger Level 1 to 5 (for now), each level increases the intensity by introducing tougher, more numerous foes and more demanding encounters. Gaining Danger Levels requires Aces to reach and clear the requisite Danger License Trials. New players might start at lower Danger Levels to learn the ropes, but as your confidence and skills grow, crank it up for thrilling battles and top-tier gear. Remember, teamwork shines brightest at higher Danger Levels, so squad up with friends and face these challenges head-on for maximum rewards.
Victory grants gear upgrades, rare loot, bragging rights … and you may just uncover a mystery or two.
- Your Gear Score is your best friend in this wild world. If your score’s red, it’s like a caution sign saying, “Hey, maybe don’t poke that gigantic beast just yet.” Level up your class, sharpen your skills, upgrade that shiny gear, and watch your score rise.
- Quests & Ventures: Accepting and completing quests on the Belfry gives you access to Ventures on the World Map.
- Squad Up with Group Finder: Towerborne was built to be better with friends. Use Group Finder, our in-game social tool, to easily form or join squads with fellow Aces and jump straight into the action together.
